This
study involves 445 subjects, 60 years old and over, who have been
followed for up to ten years. Cognitive functioning is a primary outcome.
It is expected that the results from this study may clarify the relationship
between depression and dementia in the elderly. Ultimately, it may
aid in the clinical management of geriatric depression, shedding light
on the prognosis for cognitive outcomes of depression in the elderly,
as well as for long-term recovery and remission of depression symptoms.
